Do you have too many Contact Hours for National Recertification?
By Tina Graner
Have no fear, NCBTMB is here! Be aware you can carry over any additional contact hours above the required 48 for each 4-year period. You must apply to carry over extra contact hours the year you are recertifying for the following 4-year period.
For example: Sallys National Certification is up for renewal. Sally has 65 contact hours from the current 4-year period. That means she has 17 extra contact hours. Sally will fill out a form in the recertifying booklet requesting she be allowed to carry over those extra 17 contact hours. Sally will be notified by the National Certification Board and given a certificate if she is given permission to do this. She will simply place the certificate in her file for continuing education so she has it for the next recertifying period.
This is a nice option to have since we often attend a fair amount of continuing education events some years and not so many in others. If you would like further information or clarification, call the National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork at 1-800-296-0664 or visit www.ncbtmb.com.
